NAME: August W. Booth
CANON: Once Upon a Time
CANON POINT: 4.21 “Operation Mongoose Part 1” + about 5 months in Zhautas
AGE: 35
HISTORY: http://onceuponatime.wikia.com/wiki/August_Booth
PAST GAME MEMORIES: *Upon arrival, August got to know (in the sexual sense) several people. Notably John Constantine, Booker DeWitt, and Jim Kirk. He roomed with Relm Hawke Eventually he also made friends with Mary Crawley, Scott Summers, Garrett Hawke and others.
*For the harvest festival, he built boats they would sail onto the water. He and Jim worked on one together, and during the festival they sent out lanterns together. August got scared of their growing relationship and bailed. Later that night was an orgy where he spent time with familiar faces and new ones. After the festival, he and Jim talked and agreed to try a relationship together.
*The facility went into lockdown and many of the volunteers were struck with something that ignited their instincts. August moved between dominant and submissive, and he and Jim experienced a mating bond. And since they only bonded with each other, it was yet another thing to bring them closer.
*While all this was happening, August lost the friendship he was building with Booker when the other man left the facility. August missed him, but was building more friendships and getting closer with people like Mary and Scott. He made new friends, usually welcoming them through sex.
*Some of the volunteers were attacked by plants that grew inside their lungs. Jim was one of the victims and was only better when he was close to August and Bones. That, and the color of the flowers Jim coughed up, made August realize the other man's feelings. They talked about it once Jim was better and confessed their love for each other.
*With portals opening up into other worlds, August took the chance to visit New York. It happened to be the version of New York with the Avengers Tower. He took a picture and got a web-slinging tour courtesy of Spider-Man. But the many portals opening also resulted in more disappearing friends, and all the losses were getting to August. He tried his best to comfort a friend who was also missing people.
PERSONALITY: August has a chill attitude about most things. He's friendly to just about everyone he meets and one would find it hard to get him angry over anything. He only showed anger when Emma refused to believe her destiny as the savior. This easygoing nature is what drove August to his life of pleasures, doing whatever he wanted and living life to the fullest. It also allowed him to connect easily with people like Ruby and Henry, and he even managed to get Emma to lower her guard after a while.
Despite this, August isn't very open with people. It's a combination of his nature as a liar and his being separated from his father at a young age. Even with Emma, he didn't reveal who he was for years and only did so when he was getting desperate. He has some deep abandonment issues, both because he was sent away by his father and because he left Emma when they were children. He carries a lot of guilt about all the mistakes he made over the years and now wants to change and do better this time.
For a long time, August was very self-indulgent, giving in to his own desires and chasing after pleasures. He tried anything and went anywhere he wanted. He acted irresponsibly for years, only checking on Emma occasionally, though when he did he tried to do what he thought would help her and keep her on the right path. He only came back to Storybrooke when he was dying, and he even seriously considered leaving again when Tamara gave him the choice. However, when it comes down to it, August cares deeply about the people he loves. When Tamara was threatening Storybrooke, August chose to warn Emma at great risk to himself. He also gave up his life in order to save Geppetto from drowning.
August was a liar ever since his days of being a puppet. Sometimes he did it out of protection, like lying about where he and Emma came from when they entered the World Without Magic, and sometimes just because. He also manipulated people, like tricking Gold into thinking he was Baelfire, or gave them vague answers and half-truths in order to avoid being completely honest. It's something he still struggles with, though he's trying to do better after coming back from being wood and a child again.
August once described himself this way: “I'm a believer and I want to help others see the light.” Being from a world of magic, he naturally has a strong belief in its existence and power, as well as in the power of true love. But his belief also extends to people, especially Emma. He always did his best to encourage her and support her even when she didn't believe in herself. He even used his last breath before turning back into wood to tell her she could save them all. He's optimistic in that way, holding onto hope until the very end.
POWERS/ABILITIES: He was created from magic but has no magic powers of his own. He has some non-magic abilities like sewing books by hand, a good knowledge of mechanics, and woodcrafting.
